The Challenge

A mid-size manufacturing facility wants to assist its production employees in an outplacement effort due to imminent plant closure.

The EPD Solution

EPD custom-designed and delivered a multi-module outplacement program that began with a personal analysis of career development and facilitated robust discussion of change, tension, and the emotions involved. These workshops imparted practical tips and techniques, role-played interviewing and networking skills, identified agencies, websites and government assistance available, and concluded with a personalized action plan for each participant.

Business Alignment
 

The Challenge

The merger of a major sports team's operations and the organization that runs its facilities generated the need for understanding each others' roles and responsibilities in aligning the mission statement with day-to-day tactics and processes.

The EPD Solution

A multi-module, interactive program combining teamwork, communication, change management, leadership skills and culminating in a hands-on simulation engaged the participants during five weekly sessions. Top management and senior leadership participated with managers from all departments to target organizational needs, define benchmarks to success and develop action plans.


Cultural Competence
 

The Challenge

A metro Detroit healthcare provider needs to reduce the language and cultural barriers between Hispanic patients and their direct care providers. Fluency cannot be established in a short period of time, but health care providers need to develop better rapport with patients and their families and communicate when interpreters are not immediately available.

  The EPD Solution

Residents and doctors participated in an intensive program of medical Spanish and the impact of Hispanic culture on medical interventions and interactions. EPD delivered the programs using both classroom learning and an online Learning Management System, evaluating learning through pre- and post-testing and weekly quizzes. Participants graduated from the program and were provided text, audio and Palm-based resources to assist with their newly learned language skills in their daily work with patients.


Trainer Certification
 

The Challenge

A government agency wanted a more robust training program but with their limited budget, could not hire outside trainers or additional training staff.

  The EPD Solution

EPD certified internal leaders to deliver training within the organization and developed customized training materials. The agency not only saved money but the participants were able to benefit from the facilitator's real-life leadership experience and learn from the organization's internal experts.
